New Pilot Project with An Garda Síochána

Dublin Community Mediation (DCM) is pleased to announce the launch of an exciting new Pilot Project in partnership with An Garda Síochána.

After initial discussions in December 2022 with Chief Superintendent Peter Duff at Crumlin Garda Station, Brian Sheridan and Blathnaidh Colhoun further met with Inspector Pat Duggan from Tallaght, resulting in an agreement between DCM and the Dublin Metropolitan Region South Division (DMR South) of An Garda Síochána. This division encompasses Tallaght, Rathfarnham, Terenure, Rathmines, Crumlin, and Sundrive.

The project officially commenced on June 14th, 2023, with a presentation by Brian Sheridan and Mary O'Flaherty to a group of Community Gardaí, introducing them to DCM's services and exploring ways to support their community work. The response from the attending Gardaí was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing enthusiasim for the future partnership. Business cards, flyers, and electronic posters were distributed to increase awareness among the officers and in local Garda stations.

Looking ahead, DCM aims to engage with additional groups of Gardaí, including trainee officers, to promote mediation and DCM's services. The ultimate vision for this pilot project involves expanding its reach to other Divisions across Dublin.

DCM is proud to support the community efforts of An Garda Síochána and looking forwward to helping individuals navigate and resolve conflicts through mediation. This partnership marks a significant milestone for DCM, recognising the value of its work and the commitment of its volunteers.
